The MOST rewarding thing ever

Though Junior camp may be tiring with all the duties and all but it is really rewarding when at the end of the day, a kid come up to you and say things or write notes which totally melts your heart because he/she appreciates what you did for him/her. This was what happened to me on the last day of camp.

Her name is Michelle and she is 6 years old this year. She is the cutest and the most hyperactive kid that I've ever seen!! It took great effort to get her to sleep during siesta and to even take care of her needs. She wanted the camp to be 3 weeks long!!! By then, all the helpers and camp officers would have fainted due to the lack of sleep.

I can't write down what she wrote to me in the 'letters' as this entry will sound really bad. All I can say is that those few simple words melted and touched my heart real bad! She said that she wants to be a helper at junior camp when she grows up! This totally reminded me about T&B Camp!! Talk about influencing others, I can't believe I've influenced a 6 years old to be a helper in the future!! I don't know whether she will remember it but still I really cannot believe she made that sentence!

Before she left, she jumped and gave me a BIG hug with a kiss on my cheek! I really like her a lot and I hope to see her this Sunday since she doesn't come to our church.

It was 12.46 am on the 4th out of 5 days junior camp held in church.(fell asleep while typing this this morning.)

........

While everyone is sound asleep, I've decided to type about camp since my blog looks really boring with many entries about my non-exciting life. One thing good about helping out at junior camp is that I get lots of chances to interact with the small little ones which I think is my favourite hobby as I totally LOVE kids!! I just like who they are; innocent. Actually I do envy them sometimes for being so innocent in terms of words used and thinking. Only if I could turn back time(which is totally impossible!!) then things wouldn't be so darn complicating for me to comprehend. But then again, if I don't ever grow up, I will never learn any thing new which can be very valuable in life. Taking Pastor's lessons for example. They are very nourishing all the time especially when I feel all alone or when something bad had happened.

Being at junior camp is not all about helping and cleaning after the kids. The helpers too get to take home many meaningful lesson taught by Pastor himself during the morning and evening devotions these few days. The text being used is from 1 Timothy and the topic is about this thing is service(what we are doing now). Service took a whole new level for me these 4 days. Firstly I learnt that serving itself is not at all the same as serving God. I never knew service was so deep and that it has lots of 'read out of the box' kind of thing to that one simple 7 letters word.

I will not bore you guys by typing every single lessons which I have learnt so far so I will just talk about what impacted me the most. So here goes.

What impacted me the most was about being a pattern(an example) to others, for this case the kids who are in camp or even the younger helpers. This lesson reminds me about T&B camp I had 1 week ago and this speaker called Ramesh asked us about being an influence. For me, I think it is very important to be a good role model/example/influence to the people around you especially the young ones as they will be the future of the country(WOW!! Sounds like a really major thing, well it is). So I will seek to do so. Be a good example to the people around me.

Although time and time again, I will get the sting eye from certain people, I constantly remind myself that the one I'm serving is the Lord himself and no others. Thus there isn't a need for us to throw tantrum or feel bordered about. Honestly I should be grateful that I can even serve in this ministry since they have rejected many people who wanted to serve in junior camp.

But I really do miss my bed!!! So I've decided to take a super duper long power nap when I get home from camp.

FAMILY IS BACK!!!

Love <3

HAPPY FATHERS' DAY!!!

Everybody! Introducing my 아빠!!!! I really need to thank him for believing in me for the past 18 years!! In terms of studies and pursuing my dreams! I LOVE HIM TO PIECES!!! And I thank God so much for him!!!

I LOVE YOU DADDY!!!

A GIRL IS A GIRL

A girl is a girl so frilly and sweet

You'd just like to hug her the moment you meet.

She's little pin ruffles and nylon and lace;

She's an innocent look on a pink little face;

She's dozens of dollies of ev'ry known size

This cute little angel with stars in her eyes;

She's little toy dishes and parties and teas

A princess a heart, you can say what you please;

She;s all kinds of ribbons and buttons and bows;

A pleasure to have as anyone knows.

She's little play houses and red rocking chairs,

Soft pinked eye bunnies and broke teddy bear;

She's the picture she coloured and wants you to see,

This wee little pixie who climbs on your knee;

She's perfume and powder and all pretty things

Like bracelets and beads and play diamond rings.

She's ice-cream and candy and pink birthday cake

She's also the cookies she helped Mother bake

She's the perfect nuisance to each little boy

But she's Daddy's own sweethert, his pride and his joy;

She can pout, she can stop, she can tease, she can cry

But still she's his pet, the very apple of his eye.

She's kitten and everything, cuddly and nice

Ah, sure 'n' and she's a bit of God's paradise.

Why can't I just be bolder! There are some things which I wish to do but I've never got the guts to do what I hope to do! And that really SUCKS!! Take the super recent Ambassadors' Training & Bonding Camp which ended only about 4 hours ago as an example. There is this one thing which I really want to do(which I will keep it to myself) but I just simple can't pull up my courage and to do so!!! And it is KILLING ME!!! The point of fear which Adam Khoo stated during his talk is so true! This big word is preventing me from doing things which I want to do, especially when it comes to a personal note. This particular 'task' is so simple yet it can't be done!

Training & Bonding Camp

I have to say that it is the best camp that I've been so far! Not only was it fun, I've managed to actually get something out of it! Not forgetting the new friends I've made this past 3 days be it which year they are in. Like Adam, Kim, Junn, Marcus, Dan, Jason, Priscilla( what a place to meet a PRIMARY schoolmate!!)and all the bimbo moments...ONLY if I made friends who weren't in my group. Any way the committee really done a really good job in preparing every single thing which we did during the camp. So 3 cheers to them!!!

I really hope I will put everything which was imparted to me during the upcoming Poly Experience where I might do my 1st Personal Tour with a group of secondary school students. I will try to fight the fear problem and be able to take all the failure which I might make for it is only when I fail, will I be able to learn and improve.

So it's read-up time!!

LOVE GROUP 2(bimbo group!!) LOTS!!!! 3 Days passed by too quickly! Any way, WELL DONE PEOPLE WITH THE RETRO DANCE!!! IT WAS FABULOUS!!!!

Day 17

It is now 1.07am of 12 June 2008. So this means it's 'D-day'!!!!!

Getting ready for camp, packing my bag and all (I'm always doing last minute job, I hope I don't miss out on any thing). I realized that this is the 1st ever camp where I have to bring many different sets of items for the different activities which will be taking place during the camp itself.

1)Normal clothes for the camp itself
2)My prom dress, make-up and high heel shoes for 'The Black Tie'
3)Retro stuff for 3 day's performance.

Talking about the performance, I went to school today again to continue with the choreographing of the dance. There were changes here and there so we are not even close to the ending! So far we have edited the song(credit to Tong), choreographed the steps for the 1st verse out of 3 after the editing and all the chorus. We are so died! No time for sleeping the next few days. It will be dance, dance, dance and more dance. The steps are rather complicated too(I think) so I hope everyone can catch up with what I'll be teaching them. With hope and faith, I think it is possible! If we screw up, just do some free dancing! It will be fun either way.

Bumped into Matthew(not the church Matt) today while waiting for bus 52 which was taking a million years to come! We chatted a bit and I really wander something. Is my name is so difficult to pronounce? Everyone keep pronouncing it wrongly. He pronounced it wrongly again for the second time but getting closer to I shall for give him. By the way you should pronounce it this way, S - her - lyn. Keep practising Matthew, you will get it correct someday. HAHA

Only 12 hours and about 34 mins to T&B! ABSOLUTELY CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Day 16

Went to school at 10.05am yesterday to meet my group of Ambassadors for the 1st time to actually plan on an item which we need to perform on the last day of camp.

Initially it was a little bit rough because all we did was to sit around looking at videos, trying really hard to learn the dance steps which was incoporated in the show. Oh before I continue, I shall talk a little bit more about my group's song choice. The theme was 80s Rewind, so someone suggested Hairspray! Then I said: Why don't we do you can't stop the beat! So this is how we decided on the song choice and every thing. I chose you can't stop the beat because that was the only song which I can remember out of the many nice songs they sang.

The thing is everyone in that show, all the dancers are professional dancers which we are definitely not! Further more their tempo of the song is super fast so we can't possible follow, so we decided to do our own actions.

Our minds were completely blank until Anezah came out with an action and everyone started to link one actions after another. After a tiring 3 hours of brainstorming and dancing, we finally put all the parts together and 'wahla!' the dance was completed! All we need to do now is to do some editing to the song, do some final touches here and there and to teach the rest of the group.

I've got only one problem. I have nothing 'retroy' at home so I planned on going shopping before meeting the people and Tr Aileen later on in the night but NOOO~~~ the weather has got to put up with me! It is now pouring outside and I left my umbrella in church! So basically I'm stuck at home! Great! I'll figure out something.

For now, I just can't wait for T&B which happening tomorrow! Check out group 2's groovy moves on day 3 of camp!!!

Day 10 - 15

As you can see I've stopped at day 9 because I'm becoming more and more lazy in writing entries about my daily life since they are almost the normal routine every single day! My life is seriously boring!!! So what I will do is just to give you the outline of what happened each day if I can remember all of them.

Day 10

I can't really remember what I did. Oh I had the temporary volleyball coach from hell!! I shall not elaborate more on that.

Day 11

During the last part of PPCM (Prin. & Prac. of Classroom Management), my teacher gave us a super big clue for our exam. She literally went through the questions which will be appearing on the paper and asked us to study. At that point, I didn't how the answer to a single question!! I thought I was going to flunk this paper. So I went mugging all the way on Friday(one day before the test!!) haha

Day 12

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL (before term break)!!!

YPG 2 BBQ!!! It was a blast!! Besides the heat that was emitting out from the pit which totally made me feel like I was in the sauna and the burnt garlic bread and corn and the uncooked chicken, every thing was fine! My group spent half the time trying to translate certain stuff with our minimum knowledge of Chinese to the Chinese Scholars who came for the BBQ. It was really funny cause we tend to make up our own words!!! Like Stingray, Ben K who wasn't even in my group said Sting-a-ray after a 2 seconds hesitation! It would be much funnier if you where there to hear it 1st hand!

Oh and some of us played Cluedo (I hope I spelled it correctly)after dinner!! I was dumb enough for the 1st 10 mins to show people my cards when I'm not suppose to!! In the end Zara won!! Smart girl!!! I love that game!!

Day 13

My teacher had to spoil my 1st day of term break by putting the test on Sat!!! Any way, every thing went smoothly!! The studying till 3 am in the morning was good, so was the clues!! DUH!!!
Although I know I will definitely get one part of a question wrong.

Also something really nice and happy happened on Saturday. It was Edwind and Tr Bao Ling's big day!! I had to attend it!! Tr Bao Ling was my vespers teacher for one of the Junior camp and more so when the wedding was a military style wedding where all the army boy took out their swords to welcome the newly wed. Although out of all the army boys, only one looked good from afar, I have to say that it was a stunning 'performance' or whatever you call that.

Day 14

Uncle Terance shared with us many funny things but the thing which I liked the most was the poem about friendships. I hope to lay my hands on them. And Pastor also preached about something which I really need to work on!

'I have fought a good fight,
I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness,
which the Lord, the righteous judge,
shall give me at that day: and not to me only,
but unto all them also that love his appearing.'
-2 Timothy 4:7-8
Honestly this days I've been really lazy in terms of reading of the bible and checking myself spiritually. I've learnt that there is one whom I should follow by and that is none other than Jesus Christ Himself. He fought the good fight and have finished His course though some times life may seemed so discouraging. He know what was His 1st priority. I want to be like Him and to learn how to fight the good fight and I'm going to try to work on it!
During Disciple class, Pastor again taught something which made me think and that concerns the wisdom which we are learning to find. It is actually there in front of us for us to just take it and use is but we tend to miss it by a mile!! The scary thing is that once we missed this wisdom, it can't be learnt any more!! So all this years walking around blindly, I've actually lost lots of wisdom to this world!! I better be more conscious from now on! 'Wisdom is where the crowd is'

It was also one day before NP Ambassador's Induction Camp. Was super excited!! Couldn't wait for it!!! I wandered how the other Ambassadors would be like!

(Lastly)Day 15

Today was the moment!! I was excited but at the same time really tired! I have no idea why I was so tired even after sleeping for about 8 hours!!!

Any way, every thing was fun! I can' believe how easily it was for everyone to just click the moment we met! This is for me personally, the fastest time I've every clicked with anyone besides my church peeps! And I'm really happy for that! I already feel like I'm a part of the big family even on the 1st day of this wonderful journey!

Oh I would also like to say a big sorry to Jeremy for what I've said! I'm not sure whether you are angry with me, but I do think I went a little bit overboard with the impersonation thing!! So, I'm TRULY SORRY!!!

Something really interesting yet out of the blue happened today but I'm not going to elaborate further.

All in all I really enjoyed myself today and I totally can't wait for the camp which is happening this Thurs all the way till Sat 6pm!!! I'm just going to wear my prom dress for 'The Black Tie' if I still can't find any thing cheap and nice to wear.

Ambassadors Oei!!!

Day 9

When I'm finally closer to the kids at the centre, there has got be a temporary break due to school's term break! Things always end when the fun has just begun!

So, I went back to school for a writing workshop for the writing of children's story book. The guest was Joyce Dunbar who wrote many great children's story book like 'Shoe Baby' and 'The Monster Who Ate Darkness'. Her workshop was really great and encouraging. I brought home with some thing that really encourages me and that is everyone has ideas(treasures according to her) in our mind, it's just that we have not found it yet. And that our ideas are never rubbish, just work on it. So I hope that I can start penning down some thing that can actually be turned into a book.

Day 8

Met Rach for lunch at her work place on Monday. Although it was just over a simple lunch, I had fun!

Friends are hard to get, especially good ones and I'm really thankful that the Lord has provided me with friends like the batch of 1990s or rather friends from church which are really nice to be with. Church friends are the one that are 'unlimited'. Friends from school or from work are most of the time forgotten after a while unless you still in contact or when I see them on the road and go 'oh yeah! HI!!'. I tend to be closer to my church friends even though I left church for quite some time.

So thank you friends.
Thank you God.

Day 7

It was a typical day at church I guess, nothing much happened. The only thing was that I feel that Pastor Mark was trying really hard to be funny during pre-worship today!!!! It was quite funny to see him try to be funny!!!

Then Rach came over to my house to chill, have dinner and watch 'The Holiday'. I'm really gonna miss this kind of things when she leaves! I was bored the moment she left! See how bad it is! Sigh! But what can I do but to support her all the way! That is what true friends will do I guess.

ANY CASE!!! I'm really happy because one week have passed and I'm still alive which is a good thing! And one week gone means I'm one more week away from the holidays! WHOOOOHOOOO! And this also mean, my family is coming home soon!!! Miss them lots! There is so many things to rejoice about even though I know I'm pretty much sure I'm screwed for tomorrow's child development test. Karuna makes the test sound to0 difficult to be done! All the best to me then. I don't expect the Lord to do much for me even though I know He will because I totally didn't do my part! Which is not good! What am I doing with my life now! I'm such a slacker! This has got to stop!!!!

STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Day 6

GAMES DAY!!!

It was totally AWESOME!!!! We played really nice games (credits to the game masters) and some people became really competitive I must say! Shall not mention who but you should have seen their face! Apparently the word 'piss' was the hot fav word fo that day. It felt like we were on the battle field. Everyone was all out to win that cup! IT'S PSYCHOTIC!!!! But overall I had lots of fun playing especially the 바나나 captain's ball! Though it may be messy and sticky, it was tons of fun! I even got 'ramped' down by Davin while passing the 바나나 to Allister who was the goalie! But no hard feelings, it's all just a time when everyone can just escape from work, school, army, any where and relax, have fun, chill, EXERCISE and bond with each other! Glad that Allister and Rach was in the same team as me(Carrier or however you spell it - the blue team)! I have no idea why but we three are always in one team and poor Nat is left all alone in another team. Luckily he had Chan Hwi that day! And what are the odds, my neighbour (Ben C)was my team's leader! Quite cool I must say!

I know you might be thinking, 'Who cares what happened during games day! I want to know who won the cup!'
